EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Associate Degree in Business Administration required or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: At least three years of work related experience  in a physician practice or similar healthcare setting preferred.  One year of management experience preferred.  A good working knowledge of clinical and clerical medical practice issues required.

APTITUDES:  Ability to operate general office machines, personal computer and Microsoft database software; demonstrate good leadership and coordination skills and apply sond business principles; maintain effective working relationships and communication levels with all levels of personnel and general public; ability to deal effectively with difficult patients and/or family members; committed to treating patients with dignity and respect; maintain patient confidentiality; demonstrate knowledge of OSHA requirements.


FUNCTION:  Primary manager for office of less than 3.0 FTE healthcare providers (physicians, nurse practitioner, physician assistants, etc).  Responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the office-based medical practice including financial management, budgeting, policy development, overseeing the billing process, maintaining the electronic medical record, inventory control, training and supervision of office staff,  and assisting physician with other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  Manages daily business functions of the practice, including answering phone, scheduling patient appointments, handling office correspondence and mail; organizing and allocating workload and other routine operating functions; evaluates and implements cost-containment strategies and efficiencies; handles patient complaints needing supervisory level attention; oversees daily cash deposits and cash management process; verfies insurance and obtains authorizations/referrals; ensures safety and cleanliness of office and grounds; assists with screening, hiring, and training of office staff; oversees payroll functions; performs various other duties as requested and/or as needed.
